EXERCISE 2: USING INTERNET, WEBLINKS AND VIDEO LINKS FOR STUDENTS
SEARCH ENGINE
A search engine is a tool that searches the internet for information based on keywords or phrases you provide. It helps users find websites, images, videos, and other content by indexing and ranking web pages.
Examples: Google, Yahoo, Mozilla firefox etc.
URLs
A URL is a unique string that directs you to a specific resource on the internet, such as a webpage, image, or video.
when you type a URL into the browsers address bar and press enter on your keyboard, the browser will load the page associated with that URL.
LINK
A clickable text, button, or image that connects to a URL. It is often underlined and in a different color (commonly blue). When hovered over, the cursor changes to a hand icon.
NAVIGATION BUTTONS
The forward and backward buttons allows you to move through websites you have recently viewed.The refresh button will reload the current page.
BOOKMARKS AND HISTORY
Bookmarks are saved links to specific web pages that users can easily access without having to search for them again. They act like shortcuts to websites or pages that a user visits frequently or wants to return to later.
Ctrl+D (Windows) / Cmd+D (Mac) to add a page to their bookmarks.History is a record of web pages a user has visited. It allows users to quickly go back to previously viewed pages without having to remember the URL or search for the content again.
- Use a web browser or download manager to paste the link directly for downloading.
Saving images
Right-click on Images:
- Right-click the image.
- Choose "Save image as...".
- Specify the file name and location, then save.
Using Screenshot Tools:
- Capture the image using tools like Snipping Tool (Windows), Grab (macOS), or keyboard shortcuts.
